About
Originally from Mt. Croghan, South Carolina, Camilla (Gibson) Pitman is the daughter of William C. (Billy) and Phyllis Gibson who reside in Columbia, South Carolina. Camilla, along with her brother Clayton, grew up in a three generational home. The family lived in a rural community on a cattle farm, and her grandmother owned the local grocery store and gas station. Camilla's father served as a Chesterfield County Deputy Sheriff, Pageland Police Chief, and retired as the Director of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Camilla's mother served as a substitute school teacher and owner of a baton and modeling school. She later served with the McNair Law Firm in Columbia before pursuing the travel industry and opening her own company.
Camilla graduated from Central High School in Pageland and pursued her education at North Greenville College and Furman University. While attending college, Camilla participated in the Furman University Marching Band as the featured baton twirler.
In January 1986 while awaiting summer graduation, Camilla accepted her first full time employment working for an area law firm focused on banking and real estate. After six years with the firm, Camilla accepted a legal secretary position with the Duggan, Reese and McKinney Law Firm in Greer, South Carolina, assisting representing counsel in serving the cities of Greer and Travelers Rest.
In June 1995, Camilla was invited to join her attorney at the City of Greenville where she served as Legal Office Coordinator. In March 2007, Camilla was appointed as Clerk of Court with the City of Greenville Municipal Court. Six months after joining the Municipal Court, Camilla was asked to return to City Hall to serve as City Clerk following the passing of the sitting Clerk.
Camilla met her husband Jeff while attending North Greenville College, and they have been married since 1988. Jeff is retired, disabled in the line of duty, as a Shift Captain, Fire Marshal, and Arson Investigator for the Lake Cunningham Fire Department and a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Greer Police Department.
Camilla and Jeff are the parents of one son, Drew (wife Leanna), who serves as an Engineer/EMT with the the City of Greer Fire Department and an EMT with Greenville County EMS. They are the proud grandparents to grandsons Harrison and Wyatt.
In her personal time, Camilla enjoys singing, playing the piano, traveling and sleepovers with the granchildren.
